Explore information about Bluebonnet Learning assessments, the instructional materials feedback process, and an inventory list of instructional materials.
Bluebonnet Learning assessments provide teachers with critical data about student mastery of standards. Assessments vary by subject and grade level but include the following formats to gauge student understanding and application of standards:
daily formative assessments,
mid-unit/mid-module assessments, and
end-of-unit/end-of-module/end-of-topic assessments.
All Bluebonnet Learning assessments, whether in print or digital formats, incorporate various question types, including multiple choice, multiple-select, and open-ended responses. Digital assessments also provide a range of State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test item types.
To maximize instructional time, it is recommended that administrators select either the print or digital assessment method; students should not take both print and digital assessment types.
For K–5 Math, mid- and end-of-module assessments are available in print and digital formats. For Secondary Mathematics, end-of-topic assessments are available in both print and digital formats.
K–5 Math and Secondary Mathematics digital assessments mirror the content of the print versions, except for kindergarten. Kindergarten assessments are administered in an interview-style format and are available in both print and digital formats, except observational assessments, which are only available in print format.
All K–5 Math and Secondary Mathematics digital assessments are provided in Question & Test Interoperability (QTI) file format that can be administered through a compatible Learning Management System (LMS) or digital assessment platform.
K–3 Foundational Skills instructional materials include beginning-of-year (BOY), middle-of-year (MOY), and end-of-year (EOY) Assessments, end-of-unit Assessments, spelling assessments, and word recognition assessments in print format.
Digital assessments are not available for K–3 Foundational Skills.
The following assessments are available in print format in the Teacher Guide and Student Activity Book to assess mastery of standards and retrieval of knowledge building content:
BOY, MOY, and EOY assessments,
daily formative assessments,
mid-unit and end-of-unit assessments, and
spelling and writing (Grades 1–5) assessments.
For digital assessments, there are two options: Unit-Aligned Knowledge-Building Assessments and Unit-Aligned STAAR-Style assessments.
The following digital assessments are considered Unit-Aligned Knowledge-Building Assessments and will closely resemble the printed versions and can be administered through a compatible LMS or digital assessment platform using the provided QTI online file format:
Grades K–2 mid-and end-of-unit assessments, and
Grades 3–5 BOY, MOY, and EOY assessments and end-of-unit assessments.
The Unit-Aligned, Knowledge-Building assessments assess mastery of unit standards and retrieval of knowledge-building content and only differ from print assessments in how they are administered (paper-based vs. digital).
Additionally, K–5 RLA instructional materials have optional digital, end-of-unit assessments called Unit-Aligned STAAR-Style Assessments that differ from print version in assessed TEKS, texts, as well as in structure and design. These assessments are only available for end-of-unit assessments and assess mastery of unit standards, primarily using STAAR test item types. Unit-Aligned STAAR-Style assessments can be administered through a compatible LMS or digital assessment platform using the provided QTI online file format.
As previously stated, test assessments with multiple assessment formats should only be administrated one way; it is recommended that administrators select either the print or digital assessment method. Students should not take both print and digital assessment types to maximize instructional time.
QTI assessments for State Board of Education (SBOE)-approved Bluebonnet Learning will be available each July prior to the first year of implementation. Access instructions will be sent to the school district’s EMAT print order contact.
Please note that QTI files can only be viewed and administered once they have been ingested into a compatible LMS or digital assessment platform.
